Sardinia
The gorgeous island is the second largest in the mediterranean, after Sicily and lies to the west of mainland Italy and directly to the south of Corsica. The great white wines of Sardinia are made using vermentino – a delicious wine which unsurprisingly pairs with seafood exceptionally well. The wine which dominates the winescape of Sardinia is of course Cannonau – a red wine also known as Grenache in France or Garnacha in Spain. The flavour profile is of intense dark fruits. A great grape which can be aged for many years.
